Meet our Bike & Hike 2017 Champion ~ Jim Wilsey of Hot Springs. He will sound the airhorn bright and early this Sunday morning to officially start this year’s challenge.
Jim was diagnosed with ALS just five months ago. He said it’s been devastating to he and his wife, Suzanne, yet they’re determined by God’s grace to live as He would want them to live. To serve as positive examples and love others as much as they can.
“Suzanne is my true love and soulmate, before finding out I had ALS, and now, after,” he said. The two met late in life and have shared the best of times with their shared children and grandchildren – their greatest joys. They’ve also spent time abroad going on mission trips together with their church.
“Our church community has been unbelievable in all the help they have provided since my diagnosis. It’s humbling actually,” Jim said.
Jim has dedicated his career to Walmart for nearly 30 yrs, having worked in 4 states including Arkansas. Within 12 stores, he’s served in a variety of management roles, including most recently as manager over the Walmart Tires & Auto Parts in Arkadelphia. He’s currently on long term disability.
“I have Walmart friends all over Arkansas,” he said with a smile.
Jim, thank you for providing inspiration for all of our Bike & Hike participants to get out there and make a difference. Together, WE are UP for the Challenge to End ALS.
