About the Bike & Hike for ALS:
Tim Vahsholtz, whose father, Les, was diagnosed with ALS in January 2012, wanted to do something different to bring awareness to the community about this disease. Cycling events have become a popular form of awareness, along with 5ks so, with some help from his cycling friends, this event was born. The event is designed for anyone wanting to do a multi sport event, pre train for the Big Dam Bridge 100, or one of the other many cycling, running or triathlon events in the state.
Tim says, “I remember, when I was growing up, how my Dad, my sister, and I would always ride our bicycles after dinner. I have always been into cycling since then, and my Dad started riding again a few years ago on one of my Orbea bicycles. It is because of our enthusiasm for cycling, and Dad’s enjoyment of the sport, that I wanted to do this event in his honor and memory.
